Short ride today. Spent the early part of the day hiking from my host's Earthship home to the Rio Grande River Gorge. When I got back to the house, I slowly packed up, made something to eat, and departed at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I got into Taos around 6pm and stopped at a coffee shop that had just closed. The door, however, was still ajar and I stuck my head inside. The young woman counting the cash drawer offered me some free coffee. And she advised me where to get some good natural food. So I went to the natural food market to replenish my food supplies and also sampled a glass of pineapple ginger wheatgrass juice. Delicious! I felt like I had had a cuppa coffee. Shortly after that I went down the road and stopped at another larger natural food store to pick up some fresh produce, which I had forgotten to purchase earlier. When I came out of the store there was a guy around age looking at my ride. We struck up a conversation. Sterling is his name, and after chatting for 10 minutes I asked him if he knew where I could wild camp. He then offered me a place in his extra camper trailer just half a mile down the road. Amazing! It was clean and comfortable. And Sterling was staying right next-door in a larger camper. Sterling made sure I had everything I needed and then invited me to join them for coffee in the morning.
