Ride begins/ends at Hannaford, Brattleboro, VT. Perfect Spring Day. "Hilly" away from the river. Gulf Road UNPAVED, could be a problem in mud season after snow/rain. It's well packed/graded though if dry. Beautiful stream runs along it. Madame Sherri Forest looks good for a hike. https://forestsociety.org/property/madame-sherri-forest Hinsdale is Bacon Me Crazy, and has a nice waterfront park on the Ashuelot River, and a good Marketplace for lunch supplies. 63 is the Connecticut River Bike-way into Northfeild, MA. Traffic picks up speed on 10 heading west, but there is a wide shoulder, and plenty of paint to protect the bike lane. A lunch spot was found with some very old and silent friends.142 to Vernon is the obvious choice, but a 4.5 mile climb up a 3% grade behind the golf club makes a bigger challenge. It also passes Vermont Woods Studios. After the challenge, 142 looked better/flatter than the remaining hills/distance on roads further west from the river, so took that on into Brattleboro, and had nice river views with not so bad traffic except in spots with narrow shoulders. A bit of side road passed the now defunct Vermont Yankee nuclear power station, but there is still a hydro station. The Art Center was closed in Brattleboro, but Main Street was open with many shops and places to refuel.
