First ride on Raleigh Olympian w/ 650b wheelset. 2p start. Enjoyable pace. Water at BART, then Woodside market. Kings Mt. climb gorgeous. Descent through ECDM reminded me of Joaquin Miller's non-technical trails. Planned to descend Star Hill all the way to Tunitas Creek and Bike Hut, but Star Hill descent ends in closed private roads. The climb back to Tunitas was excellent. Beautiful descent of Tunitas Creek Rd to amazing gorgeous Grabtown Gulch dirt descent. Climb of Purisima Creek Trail is best dirt climb I've been on. Redwood canyon, relentless climb w/ short steeper sections. Descent of Skyline fast and works out the aero tuck muscles. Inner thigh/sartorius cramping at same spot as last week, at mile 47; forced a couple short stops. Also brief cramping of right shoulder and tricep at same mileage. Strong headwinds once out of hills, and left knee started to ache, so took it very slow all the way to BART. Made a 10 minute ride a 35-40 minute crawl. Amazing ride, one to train for and extend further! Bike was absolutely fantastic in all conditions. Pumped up to 70 p.s.i. In future, try 5 psi less to see if rear wheel will slip less on Purisima Creek climb. Did not remember same problem riding last week w/ 700x25 @ 95 psi. Arrived at Millbrae BART at 8p, shivering w/ cold, ready for hot food and shower! 60 degrees most of day, in the shade while in the hills, fantastic ride for hot days. 5-6 clif bars, two bottles of water. Would need more water if warmer, thus, Bike Hut...
