Ann's inaugural ride as leader, was voted the best ride ever (terms and conditions apply - see below) and she thus snatched the crown from Peter G. The ride attracted 12 followers on what was probably the hottest day of the year so far. First leg was via Ickenham and Eastcote to Pinner where Ann provided free refreshments to one and all. There is no such thing as a free lunch as they say and the downside of Ann's largesse was that she drove us up Pinner Hill (minus the 3 that had dropped out). However our reward for the climb was a long swoop (registered trademark of you know who) down Sandy Lane, before turning onto the Ebury Way. This brought us out at Rickmansworth where we had lunch in the Coach and Horses. The vampire element of the group took their meals under the awning while the Van Helsing element stayed out in the sunshine. Post lunch we headed off down Moor Lane, Wolsey Road etc to Northwood and thence onto Northwood Hills to take afternoon tea at Eastcote House (how ironic that Ann took Pete's crown from the very spot that he had won it). From there the group dispersed back to Uxbridge. A great day out with Ann and a big thank you for the morning refreshments and nose around!
Terms and Conditions: More followers than Peter, greater distance than Peter's ride, warmest day of the year, Jim, if present, to disappear during the course of the ride, free refreshments, some swooping ® and a really bad dried out hamburger must be consumed by someone on the ride - all conditions were met.
