The **Plymouth to Boston Advanced Level Coastline Tour** (Road Ride).  This is a great summertime all day bike ride.  Perfect for the hot summer day when hanging near the coastline is a great way to stay cool.

**About the Ride**:  Starting in Plymouth Mass, this ride is an Advanced-Level Road Ride with 80+ miles of coastline riding back up to Boston.  A fairly flat ride, the route keeps you off the main roads and on the coastline as much as possible. Expect 6 – 10 hours for this ride.

This ride takes advantage of the MTBA Train System (or Bus) to get you to the start (or end) of your ride.  Taking the train from South Station to Plymouth is a lot easier on weekdays. On the weekends, there is a very restricted train schedule.  Taking the train to Kingston is a good second option. Just re-route a little bit.

**Ride Equipment:**  Standard road bike, tour bike, or a cycle-cross bike is fine.  Hybrids and any others highly discouraged.   Pack 100oZ of water and food.  While there are some stops along the way, this coastline ride keeps you away from such places to stay on backroads. Standard tire repair equipment, not a lot of bike shops on the route. Bring a camera, you will want lots of photos.

**Riding the Route:**  Starting at the Plymouth train depot, you can get to the shore line through a back trail at the front of the train.  Follow this up a bit, and you will eventually find @poi[Plymouth Rock](2085965), and the Mayflower replica at Plymouth Harbor.

After this, you turn around and start your ride. At @photo[Mile 10](1689965), you will be past a majority of the heavy traffic for the day and close to Duxbury center. Here you will take a side trip to see a small island and a second to the @poi[Duxbury Beach](2085968) Shore-line at Mile 16.  The connecting road is Sandy, but rideable.  Well worth the effort.  This 2 miles is worth the entire ride…!

@poi[**Mile 18**](2085969) gets you off the shore-line and to a tour of the salt-boxes. (small homes on the shore-line)

**Mile 25** puts you just past Marshfield Center and heading over the @poi[North River Bridge](2085970) brings you into @photo[Situate](1689967) for some great @photo[coastline views](1689968), and a must-see small town harbor.

**Mile 40** brings you into the twisty coastline roads of Cohasset, where many sea-side homes are on pristine properties overlooking the water. Somewhere along this shoreline is a great place to take a @poi[Lunch Break](2085972).

Starting at Mile 52, I keep you on a round-about route to keep you away from some nasty traffic in Quincy.  By Mile 60, you are on the coastline again, to view a series of beaches on the South Shore of Boston.

By Mile 70, you will be on the @poi[Boston Harbor-Walk](2085974) trail network, and less than 10 miles to your destination.  Here you can now relax, and slow down a lot. No hills, only bike paths now. Castle Island is a great place to take a break, before the final leg to Downtown Boston.  Enjoy the day.
