Our route took us through some hilly power lines to a snowmobile trail. Ashley caught herself in the middle of asking The Question That Must Not Be Asked. It was a nice save, but we felt obliged to try it anyway. After all, it wasn't even dark yet, and the rain clouds were still a ways off. The answer is: probably totally doable on full-suspension MTBs. Definitely very dangerous on penny-farthings. On our gravel bikes, we did some nice hiking, though much of the route was ridable. The snowmobile trail was long and beautiful and worth the trip. At the far end, we somehow ended up inside an electric fence with a small herd of goats, but it turned out the goatherd was someone I hadn't seen for years, so we had a nice visit. A headlight upgrade is in order for some of us!
