Another epic adventure. Started with a nice ride on the "Log Train Trail" which had lovely grades and sections towards Comox Main. But once we hit the logging roads we rode on it past gates and discovered a bridge washout. The workers informed us of a detour "up a hill but it's scenic". It was quite hard going, and in the blazing heat with no shade. Very steep hills. We eventually found a stream to cool off in and resupply water. A Mosaic Forestry supervisor found us and informed us we shouldn't really be there midweek and with the fire hazard but we were "already over halfway" so we could continue. (Not sure that was true...) but we went off towards Comox Lake anyway. Some heat, some climbing but nothing crazy past that point. We had a lovely campsite on the lake but a TON of mosquitos...
Early start the next day along the lakeside. Steep hills with rewards at the top! ... of another hill to climb! Once we got closer to town though, some lovely mixed-use trails, a swim spot, and a short town visit for repair supplies preceded us making the early ferry to Powell River.
