We left the Colonial Hotel in Gardner at 6:30 after a group picture on this our last day of the PAC Tour 2016 Northern Transcontinental ride. The ride to the Atlantic was fairly easy, being down hill and blown by a strong west wind. However, gone were the bucolic days of the Midwest, replaced by TRAFFIC. Our lunch was at Winter Island Park and we waded into the Ocean at Waikaki beach located in the Park. That was officially the finish, but we still had to ride six miles to our Hotel. Peabody, MA is named after George Peabody, a noted philanthropist. It was early populated by leather workers from the Ottoman Empire. Population 52,250. The ride is done. I signed up for it not because I thought it would be fun, but rather because I knew it would be hard. There were some fun moments, but they were mostly off of the bike. You do see sites, but it's not about site seeing. PAC Tours are about enduring in the company of others who are doing the same, each in their own way. The biggest surprise for me was how much I enjoyed recording the ride for YOU and how much it meant to me to hear from YOU each day. I'm honored to have so many friends who followed along. I fly home to Vicki in Tucson tomorrow. Bill
