A mixed surface ride with smooth Blacktop, Chip-Seal, gravel and Chunk. About 25 -30% gravel. Some beautiful views along the way, with the highlight being Buck Bald. Begins with a gradual 23 mile paved climb following the Tellico River. You’ll finally leave it and start climbing to Harshaw Gap. Descend off Harshaw, then on to Davis Creek rd, a lumpy chip-sealed road. You climb and descend beautiful paved roads, then hit 4 flat miles of gravel, then a 5 mile back woods climb to Buck Bald. It’s beautiful and rugged. Enjoy the 360 degree views off the Bald 😎. Descend off there to 68 for a ripping descent to Bailey Rd. From there it’s blacktop or chip-seal to the finish. There are some steep kickers, but it’s mostly downhill to the finish. There is water and bathrooms at the Checking station at about 16 miles. Green Cove Store at 17 miles, then bathrooms (no sinks) every mile or so to mile 23. There is a spring pipe on the left at about 45.5 miles. Start fairly early and enjoy the day!
