Probably the most scenic climb used in the Tour of Switzerland. The descent that helped Peter Sagan win a stage of the 2011 event is included as well. This ride starts in the same place as the other two climbs in the Tacx collection out of Grindelwald: Mannlichen and Kleine Scheidegg. This time we make a left turn and climb a short hill up to the town of Grindelwald itself and after a short easy stretch the climb starts properly. Filmed in the early summer with all the mountain flowers in full bloom, you can almost smell the fresh cut grass while you virtually climb the car-free narrow road to the summit at 1962 meters. This ride is then extended with one of the most stunning sections of the film we have recorded taking 10km of very undulating service track called the Oberlager. It has some very steep sections that often switches to gravel to the chairlift station at First with amazing views of the Eiger and Wetterhorn. After reaching the station you shall then return all the way back to the summit and descend fast to finish at the local bike shop in Grindelwald.Training tip: ride the first hill up to the town steady to warm up on an easy gear and then do the main climb at a hard tempo, like 70-80% of your lactate threshold (LT). Once over the summit recover but ride the short hills of the plateau section flat out if you still have the legs. Then cool down on the descent back to Grindelwald.
