Lawrie is famous for dodging routes involving gates and barriers but today, much to every ones consternation, he managed to incorporate at least thirty into his ride to the Kingsfairway at Ashford. We set off via Little Britain and the first of many gates to Thorney Park GC for morning coffee. Departure was delayed while we waited for a heavy shower to pass. Once the skies had cleared we headed off for our lunch stop. Our leader picked up a puncture on the Stanwell Moor Road, despite using his mountain bike with the tyres that seem to have come off a small tractor. While waiting for this to be fixed we noticed that the Wise Woman of Ickenham was donning her wets - we followed suit and within minutes the rain came thundering down. Puncture repaired, we continued on via at least another dozen gates to our lunch stop. Replenished, we headed back via Stanwell Moor and more gates where it was Gerry's turn to pick up a puncture. Lawrie just about managed to redeem himself by finding a new Puffing Stop in West Drayton and jolly good it was too. An eventful day with Lawrie allowing us to have a jolly good moan.
Quote of the day (take your pick) A. Oh no, another gate. B. Oh no, another puncture. C. Oh no, it's raining again.
