It's a great day to get out! Weather is nice and cool. In the upper 50's. Mild winds from the North West. I chose this route due to the prevailing wind conditions. The legs were a bit heavy to start, but got warmed up very quick. I made it to the summit of OTR in average time. The Banducci Wall had a road closure. Apparently, there was an accident that knocked out a utility pole. Suffice it to say, they let me through. Due to the closure, there was minimal traffic, making the way up and down Banducci much safer. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover. Shortly after, I made my way down the mountain. There was no traffic from behind due to the road closure, so I was able to choose my lines without danger. From there, I made my way around the farmlands. I kept the tempo steady, no heroics. I pushed it a bit after making it to Bailey Rd. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:02 hours. The last climb went quick. Given the tailwind, I was able to keep a good tempo. I kept the momentum going over the top. I was able to recover on the false flat and made my way to Route 202. They moved the temporary traffic light to the left of the stop sign. There was minimal traffic as I made my way to OTR. OTR was fun to descent. The tailwind made helped. I pushed over Mariposa and then shut it down after reaching the top of Weston. Concentration was pretty good. A bit squirrely at times, so I had to coach just a bit. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs, no stomach problems. I brought some Pepto pills just in case. I went through most of my Gatorade, no water. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. The HR watch was more or less the same. Off by as much as 5 BPM. Ailments were minimal. Other notes, no other cyclist today.
