How to simply describe the drop into the Gorafe desert: fun, splendid, just one of those treat. Just go there and check it out, I mean I would have stayed in the cueva much longer having my own bike. After the descent you keep going down progressing in the bottom of the canyon. Then, the route I chose had me cross over the other side of the Rio Guadiana Menor, a real ford with water but it was shallow enough to simply push my bike through it. I was wondering how the rest of that camino would be, and I think I chose for the best; it was stunning, wild, abandoned hacienda, tons of birds and dozens of ibex, the colors were phenomenal and the route a bit more wild and remote and fun than I think passing on the West side of the Rio would be; if you do the latter though, let's say the water is too high at the ford, you'll get a bridge to cross where the two route options meet. One of the wildest and my favorite day so far. The climb up out the the river valley is rude, then it is a sweet glide to Pozo Alcon through the olive farms.
