Bob Wolf, Marc and I started from Lincoln and picked up Fred in Sudbury for a lovely day of hills (and a few dales) heading for lunch at Wegmans. The first chilly (for me) ride of the season - started with a balaclava, ear jock, long fingered gloves and long sleeve jacket. Later just a vest and after lunch, just a jersey and short fingered gloves.
I had pizza and also fried garlic chicken bites - others had more healthy fare.
Used WAHOO HRM paired with the Garmin and phone. Also bumped wheel size on Garmin from 2096 to 2136 mm for my 700-28 tires.
Distance was still a hair shy of the phone distance. Garmin 62.7 miles 2652 feet vs phone 63.2 miles 3625 feet vs plan 62.3/2983. I actually rode about 0.4 miles getting to and from start.
When I got finished, I compared the elevation profile from the phone vs the garmin. The Phone Profile looked a lot like the planned route and also what it felt like to ride. The elevation profile from the Garmin showed very few dips in the route - made it look like a pancake - so I kept the phone version and gave up the cadence data. I have speed/cadence devices which I will add (Bluetooth and ANT-2) so I can use with phone and garmin.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
