Fuel EX 9.8. Cloudy, cold and snowing but minimal winds. It snowed on and off over the whole ride, with fluffy and powdery snow as deep as 2 inches in some spots. No issues for the MTB but the hidden ice puddles and muddy thawed sections were another story. Temperatures hovered right around freezing so there was some thawing and so some mud and standing water in spots. The conditions really added to the rolling resistance and slowed down my speed. Snow sticking to me all over also added to the cold so I dropped out after 1:40 or so. A few hikers and dog walkers out, didn't see any other bikers but there were a few fat tire tread in the snow. I started out the ride at the South Prairie Equestrian Parking lot off Shaumburg Rd for a change. Due to the conditions and melting, I did mostly riding in one direction instead of my usual loops in both directions. Good ride overall but one of my slowest average times recorded.
