54 to 52degF on melding snow. Paved trails just had puddles and most of the gravel sunk just 1/2 inch deep mud. That alone proved exhausting. But then, half way through, the 100' narrow rocky decline down to Easley Rd was AWFUL and there was no alternative without long back track. Before I realized it, my tires were 4 inches deep. Sticky mud (with gravel in it) locked up both wheels and dislodged the chair almost immediately. Dismounting, my boots held 3 inches of mud. Carrying down the 33lb immobilized bike plus maybe another 30lbs of mud was painful and took 30 minutes. I then spent the next few hours at a nearby park, removing wheels, cleaning with snow and puddles, and putting the bike back together. The still mud-caked bike shifted smoothly, braked okay, and made just a little noise. The ride back was uneventful. Quite chilly but tolerable wearing winter thermals, headwrap, mask, gloves, and boots.

Some distinct, new pain around my injury. May have hurt myself carrying the bike out. :(
I am SO exhausted and starving!
