Thirteen loiterers gathered at Uxbridge on a distinctly cool morning with the forecast threatening sunshine later. Five followed Cliff on the long ride while six of us joined John M on the short.
Leaving town down Cricket Field and Whitehall Roads to Cowley and Iver we continued through Richings Park, Colnbrook, and Poyle to Stanwell Moor and the Vermeulen's Garden Centre for elevenses. Leaving the garden centre the sun tried to make an appearance but Lawries sun glasses kept it at bay. John led us back through the village to a path round a fishing lake. John must have forgotten the a key as we had to lift the bikes over a gate. The path was very pleasant and rejoined Horton Road near our next track running alongside Wraysbury River and M25 to Staines and lunch at The George PH. The George, a JDW pub, was busy but we managed to find a table for us to enjoy lunch together.
We left Staines by walking up Church Street, a one way street, to Wraysbury Road along which we cycled through Wraysbury to a tea stop at Liquid Leisure a water ski centre which appeared to be busy on the water. While enjoying tea here the sun made an appearance. Homeward bound we cycled through Horton to Colnebrook. Crossing the A4 access to our route was through a herd of ponies as we continued towards Iver en route to Uxbridge with the group dispersing on the way.
Uxbridge to Uxbridge 25 miles.
