The weather had turned cold with a strong cold breeze and twelve riders assembled at Uxbridge for a choice of two rides. Five left on the long ride led by Dave T and the remainder followed me on a shorter route and Alan shadowed us off road on his Pugsley.
Heading out of Uxbridge towards Denham we made our way across Denham Golf Course to Denham Green and Harefield en route to Elevenses at The Oak Tree Cafe at Mount Vernon Hospital. While there Alan turned up wearing some of the mud that he had found.
We retraced our route back to Woodcock Hill where Tony H left us for home and we continued of down Harefield Road to Stockers Farm Road which led us to the canal at Stockers Lock. Once over the canal we had to negotiate two gates and a ride round a field to gain access to the canal towpath which we followed to Springwell Lock. Leaving the canal we followed Springwell Lane to the North Orbital Road along which we headed to Maple Cross. Alan diverted to research an alternative route while we turned off onto Chalfont Road up under the motorway to Shire Lane and so the The Dumb Bell PH for lunch upon where Alan rejoined us and Angela departed for home.
The Dumb Bell was very busy with family’s celebrating Mothers Day but we found a table to accommodate the five of us next to a welcoming log fire.
After an excellent lunch we reluctantly braved the cold conditions outside and after deciding to skip a tea break Alan went off to find more mud and Liliane, Sandra, Phil, and myself headed through Horn Hill to Chesham Lane. At Joiners Lane Sandra left for home via Chalfont St Peter and we carried on towards Higher Denham where Phil said goodbye. Liliane and I carried on through Denham Village and Denham Golf Course back to Uxbridge.
