Ok back after a couple days for a ride recap.
Going in to the day I knew I was going to tacking on some extra credit to the Swanny's ride because it wasn't long enough for me. I struggle to get out of bed for rides that are less than 40 miles anymore and this was advertised at around 30. I knew there were several Adobo Velo guys going so I asked around if anyone was doing a pre-ride. Kant spoke up and threw Dave and Henry under the bus by telling me they were leaving from Mountains Edge Park at 8:00 a.m. Perfect!
I rolled out of the house at 6:30 and I really need to work on being a better judge of how long it'll take mt to get somewhere. Even adding the two small climbs south of Democracy and the extra loop after the Erie pedestrian bridge I was still 20 minutes early to meeting Dave and Henry.
Henry rolled up first and we yammered a bit before watching Anthony roll by and then eventually Dave. It was funny how neither of them had a clue as to how they were going to get over to Swanny's. So I took the lead and rode us over. I really wish the construction on Cactus would get finished up. It's a pain trying to get over to east Henderson from Mountains Edge with it all tore up. Along the way we passed both Moose and Kant, both of whom turned around to follow us over.
Pretty chill ride over to Swanny's. Got to have a nice chat with the boys on the roll over. Once there we all chatted some more while waiting for the ride to begin. In a similar fashion to my ride over to Mountains Edge Park we were about 15-20 minutes early to the start of the ride. I didn't mind as it gave me a chance to chat everyone up before rolling out.
The Anniversary ride was great. I was surprised how many riders showed up in support of the Swanny's Team. Going in I was expecting things to get faster because lord knows there were a lot of hammers in attendance. I think Mindy but the fear of God into all of them as the ride remained chill throughout. Even had a couple nice chill conversations up in the Mission Hills neighborhood while enjoying the beautiful weather.
Back as Swanny's we all were treated to street tacos and coffee, both of which were awesome. There was a raffle draw for some Swanny's swag, including gift certificates, and I was lucky enough to come home with one! Will certainly help out as old Shadow is about due for a tune up at nearly 18,000 miles.
With full stomachs Dave, Henry, and I got ready to roll out. Joe Ruggles even decided to join in the fun with a ride over to the west side. Decided to take the boys up St Rose to Starr before heading over to Southern Highlands. Henry peeled off after we crossed over the Erie pedestrian bridge. Joe, Dave, and I hung together until we came up to Blue Diamond and Fort Apache. Dave tempted me with a Red Rock Flyby and I decided to join him for some extra miles.
Dave was just a beast climbing up Blue Diamond toward NV-159. I'm surprised I was able to stick with him, and was certainly struggling as we made the turn onto NV-159. Thankfully he eased up on me some as we passed the town of Blue Diamond. Unfortunately, once we started the climbing towards the overlook I struggled to keep up with him. He pulled ahead, but pulled off at the overlook and waited until I caught up. The ride down to DFH from there was awesome with Dave leading the way for the majority. Feel like I took a token pull after the cattle guard to offer the man some relief.
We pulled into West Tech to catch our breath and say our goodbyes. At this point I was already knocking on a century. I knew I needed a good sit down break to put some power back into my legs. I skirted along west Summerlin down to Pedal & Pour for a nice iced coffee and pastry.
Hung out there for about 30 minutes before setting off for some Wandrer miles along the way home. Really just rode north to Sunset and took it all the way until dead ended on the east side at Pabco. From there I started working my home. Made one more stop at Warm Springs and Gibson for another 30 minute break.
Rolled up to the house and saw 139.8 on my computer and said, "Aww hell no". I rode right on by and took a victory lap around the block to take more over the 140. Parked the bike and went straight inside to sit down, relax, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
