Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.

Today is daylight savings day. The weather was nice and cool, I wore 3 layers, arms, legs, head. Wind from the north, mild, and favorable for this ride. I felt good today, my legs were with me. So, I quickly made my way to SS. Stopped a few times to adjust my saddle position. When I got to the top of SS, I decided to make one more adjustment. Something happened that I've never experienced before. I don't think EVER. The bolt that tightens the seat post clamp broke. So there was part of the screw left in the collar, and the other half completely broken. I went into panic mode, because I was 1/2 through the ride. Fortunately the rest of the way was mostly downhill and flat, and of course the last climb up Cummings Valley Rd. There was a little covered bench where I was able to sit down, lean my bike safely, and think what to do next. I took my toolbag off and looked at everything I had. I had nothing that would help. So, I started toying with the seat to see what I had to deal with. The clamp that dad put on for my rear light was holding the seatpost from going any further down. So, it was only about 1 inch lower than usual. The only problem was rotation, from left to right. In the meantime, while thinking what to do, I called home to see if anyone could pick me up in case the bike was unrideable. The only thing hindering was the rotation problem. I had a long velcro strap that I use to secure the saddle bag. So, I used that to tie the front end of the saddle and loop it around the top tube. It didn't hold it in place while in the saddle, but when I go from standing to sitting, at least the saddle was mostly in the forward position. I didn't know how much the tail light clamp would hold up under my full weight and with the bumps in the road. I figured I try it out. After a few more calls back home, I rode on. To my surprise, the tail light clamp held up well. So, I made my way back while moving my bottom to keep the saddle in the forward position. Other than that awkwardness, it wasn't too bad. Done with that problem... Ailments, pretty much none. A little calve tightening in the right leg. didn't last more than a minute or two. My concentration was good up to SS. Then I was in full attention mode, trying to keep the bike ridable. Balance was good, again up to SS. due to the seatpost problem, I can't comment any further on balance. Gear is working well, everything except for the broken part worked flawless. I actually did good time, all things considered. I'm thinking I'll have to figure out a way to prepare for something like this to happen. maybe keep an extra clamp? I don't know... I thought I was tightening the bolt too much. But when I got home to put the new saddle on, I had to clamp that thing till the bolt didn't move anymore... So, I'm thinking, an extra clamp with a matching bolt. Will have to do some research on that later. Glad I made it home in one piece!
Forgot to add one important comment. The saddle... This fizik saddle is really comfortable. On both Rides, I felt no discomfort. It protected my sit bones, and no numbness. I've installed the San Marco saddle, and will see how that fairs on the next few rides. I really don't want to keep both, as they are very expensive. I hope it will be a clear decision.
