I went out with the intentions to do a speed workout but my lower back wasn't having any of that so it was going to be an easy ride until I got to Rte 70 and the first little incline. My watts went up and I decided to see how long I could hold it... it was tough to do but the challenge was on. I get to Rte 539 WaWa traffic light and it was red so I made the right and went down that road for about 3 miles. I turned around and hit a headwind that I thought I was already riding into, lol. The good thing about riding into a headwind is, it takes more Watts to maintain the speed. I get back to the Rte 539 traffic light and it is green so I move into the left turn lane so I can turn left, I'm holding good speed a Jeep passes me on the right just before the turn. I'm thinking it is going straight, we both are now both in the intersection, I am turning left and this idiot is also turning left. I look at the driver as he looks at me like I'm doing something wrong, in order for both of us to make the turn I had to brake with control into the turn so the Jeep can make the turn and avoid running into him or the car that is in the inside lane. The Jeep speeds away as I go on my merry way and back to my challenge. At this point my lower back on both sides were screaming along with both lower quads (one in pain and the other from muscle burn) with 11.5 miles to go! The wind is kicking my butt as I refuse to give up. I make an executive decision to keep pushing to where the road gets bumpy and rough before taking it easy which is another 4 miles... the miles count down one by one, I make the right turn onto the final mile before I shut it down and cruise in the last 3 miles. Finally, I reached the shut down point and success! I was amazed at how easy it was to finish the last 3 miles. First 4 miles at 17 mph, 21 miles at 21.7 mph and last 3 miles at 18 mph. What an adventure of a ride! Onwards to the next great adventure... be safe out there and enjoy the ride!
