Cycle to Buckingham Palace for the start of the RideLondon FreeCycle, 11.5 km of closed streets including The Mall, Piccadilly (including Piccadilly Circus), The Strand, Holborn (over the Viaduct), Queen Victoria Street, Victoria Embankment, Parliament Square and down Birdcage Walk back to the start. Did a loop and a bit, stopped for a taco at one of three of the festival areas, and back home along the river through Chelsea, Fulham and Hammersmith. The FreeCycle area was great, though it was crowded in some places (especially on The Mall and through some of the narrower streets near Bank), and with lots of families, there were times when we were barely crawling. But a few times I got a bit of open road ahead of me and could open up and get a decent pace up. Overall a really good atmosphere, and great to see so many people out cycling through central London - usually it is only me, a few other nutbars and the delivery guys.
