Gravel road ride. Start at Bell station, off Hwy 152 (Pacheco pass highway). there is a parking lot and pit toilet at the start. The road is closed for now (May 2023) but bicycles are ok. This ride is to Pacheco Creek about 8.5 miles in. This road goes through private land the first 7 miles before entering Henry Coe park. The initial climb is 1.5 miles at 16% and tops out on a ridge. The road then follows the ridge to near the Dowdy Ranch day use area, which is actually the park boundary. The water is on at Dowdy Ranch even is it is closed. It has flush toilets as well and covered picnic tables A 2 -miles descent (16%) then takes you to Pacheco Creek which will have water in it until late spring. The road is well-graded gravel but has washboard on the steep parts. This is best done in cool weather from late fall thru late spring. Summer is VERY hot - over 100F.
