A great weather day for riding. One thing I always expect when riding this route, with the 1 1/2 mile gravel section, is the unexpected. After rainy days expect mud and puddles. After they grate it expect hidden soft spots. After dryness, expect hard edge washboard surface. I know where to keep my line in the first and second sections. Today however I was all over the place for about 100 yards in the final section. I've never had that much lack of control with both the front tire and rear tire fishing around. I stopped because I suspected a flat rear tire as that is the only time I've ever experienced this feeling. Tires were fine. The road was actually very, very sandy from lack of rain. I've never seen it this bad. My 38 tires were no match for it. I would have needed tires with grip instead of road tires.
