So, Gina says to me as we're about to start this ride, "I wanna take it easy today, OK?" In that case, why was she once again attacking at every opportunity? This ride, as is already obvious, turned out to be a lot more spirited than initially anticipated. Stuart did his usual solo thing at the beginning, taking a huge lead using the strong northwesterly tailwind down to the beach. We were finally able to assemble by Field 6 when we were given the opportunity to work together all the way to Gilgo. We all took tuns pulling, save for JoJo who was far behind. On the return leg, now into the wind, we once again had the chance to help each other when suddenly two very strong riders passed us. Not wishing to miss a chance to suck some wheel, Gina, Stuart and I jumped on. Much to our surprise, another, even stronger rider, on an older Bianchi of some sort, blew by. Of course we abandoned our former partners and latched on to Bianchi Man. Out of the blue, after riding several miles, Gina attacked Bianchi Man, and we dropped him!! We pulled off at the turnoff for the boardwalk to await JoJo's arrival, and eventually struggled north into the 10mph northwesterly headwind. All in all, a great, fast ride with beautiful weather, featuring blue skies, wonderful fair-weather clouds, low humidity and temps in the low seventies. And hurray - NO MISHAPS!
