Once I hit the climb, I removed my down coat. I sparingly used my light in the forest. By the time I got to the top, it was pretty dark. No problem! I have my Bright Eyes lamp securely fastened to my handlebars. On the way down, Tamra called me and asked if I knew what time it was. I was a little shocked that it was 5:40. Shortly thereafter, my headlight went out. Oh SH*T!!! Now what? As it turns out, I could get it to go on but when it went out, my eyes had to adjust to the darkness so I just left it off and guessed where the trail was taking me. For the most part, it was good as there was a 3/4 moon which was fine, except in the woods and if you know this trail, it's all in the woods! By the time I got down to the flat part by Bear Creek, I was pretty sore from all the braking and concentrating on seeing the trail in the dark, moonlight. The Donafin Castle was completely lit up and it looked wonderfully cozy to be inside, sipping a scotch.
