This is a nice little side trip between Yreka and Seiad. Many people ride Hwy 96 from Yreka to Happy Camp, but there is no shoulder and lots of blind curves. I picked this little side road and was so glad I did. This region has experienced several fires but remains beautiful. Signs are posted to watch for falling trees, but they've cleared most of the ones closest to the roads. The road is paved, but crumbly in many parts I was careful going too fast down the hills! It is a ramble up and down small hills and follows the river the whole way. Almost no traffic. There is a dog about 2 miles in. I had to get off and walk past the property. She seemed okay as long as I wasn't riding. I hopped back in the car and drove into Seiad and had a delicious burger at the Seiad Valley Cafe. We waited about an hour for the food because of the PCT hikers, but there is outdoor seating and it was a relaxing wait.
