I think I left my legs in Iceland. If anyone over there racing The Rift could bring them back for me that would be much appreciated.
Sonny was the first to get a rear flat going up Page Mill. Weirdly, we couldn't find the leak and he though maybe there wasn't enough sealant so he added some and we used a CO2 as well but there didn't seem to be a leak yet all the air would just deflate and the tire would unseat. The unseating seems bizarre to me since I've never had a tire unseat on it's own from just letting all the air out.
So I gave him my tube which I had actually taken out of my bag but decided to put back in for the ride. The tube that Melinda gave me. :P
This year's been terrible for horse flies. I don't remember them being an issue ever in past years. While Sonny was working on his tire, I got bit and then when we got water just below Monte Bello OSP, I got bit again.
When we got down to Pescadero Creek Rd. we saw the Pescadero Coastal Classic Road Race going on in the opposite direction, We'd see them all the way down Hwy 84. Lots of Alto Velo kits but I don't think I was able to see anyone that I recognized.
The reason we went out to the coast was to escape the heat and when we got to Hwy 1, the breeze was actually pretty chilly. I thought I was back in Iceland. Waiting at Dad's was actually chilly too even though it was sunny. We did find a warm spot away from the wind to eat luckily.
Initially the trip back was chilly too but then all of a sudden as we passed Cowell Ranch Beach it got hot. Then just before the south trailhead for Cowell-Purisima Coastal Trail, Bob got a rear flat. His was pretty obvious as we could hear the air coming out.
Luckily I didn't join in but my legs did feel pretty flat on the climbs. Weirdly they felt okay on the flats. And we did do the Rosewood sprint and had some shenanigans down Sand Hill.
Boy was it hot from Woodside back though.
