Mt. Adams High Lakes

High Lake Trail #116 is better suited to dirt bikes than XC or short-travel trail bikes.

Further east, past Horseshoe lake, the trails are trammeled by horses with a choppy surface and short, sandy climbs that make the route feel up-hill in all directions.

While the route is no flowy joy ride, the surrounding alpine forest, beautiful lakes, glacier fed creeks and fast moving rivers, all with Mt. Adams looming large in the backghround, make it worth a visit.

If you don't own a horse or a dirt bike, hiking is the best option in this area. Gravel biking is okay too, but be prepared for lots of dusty auto traffic.
