Chris K led us out of Uxbridge across Uxbridge Common and on around Swakeley's Lake. Crossing Swakeleys Road we made our way across Ickenham Green and quiet streets to Ruislip Lido. We then made our way up Poor's Field and across Northwood Colf Course to elevenses at Haste Hill Golf Club.
After a pleasant break John, Jane, Luke, and Leslie left us to return home. Chris, John O, Jackie, Liliane, and I agreed to lengthen the ride a little and have lunch at The Boot in Sarratt. Chris led us through quiet roads through Northwood, Moor Park, and Rickmansworth to pick up the Chess Valley Trail. We followed the Chess to Loudwater Lane uphill to Sarratt Lane and so over the motorway and on in to Sarratt and Halfway along The Green lay the Boot. The Boot was busy but we found a table and were served fairly quickly and had an enjoyable lunch.
We left the Boot and Sarratt down Red Lion Lane to Commomwood and followed Bottom Lane, Tom's Hill to Chandler's Cross and on to Croxley Green. At Croxley Green we turned down Copthome Road to Scott's Hill and down through Rickmansworth to enter the Aquadrome.
It being the weekend of the Rickmansworth Canal Festival it was quite busy as we skirted around Batchworth and Bury Lakes to join the canal at Stocker's Lock. We followed the canal to Sringwell Lock and crossing the bridge followed NCR6 down to Black Jack's Lock where crossing the canal again we left the towpath and followed a track alongside Broadwater Lake to Lower Harefield. Using the road we crossed the canal again turnig onto a track that took us around the marina and fishing lakes, under the GCR/GWR viaduct, to cross the canal on a footbridge into Denham Country Park. We then made our way across the park and golf course to tea at St Mary's Church Denham wwhere we found Bob waiting and were joined by Dave P.
After enjoying tea and cake the group dispersed with Chris and John heading off to Ruislip and three of us cycling back to Uxbridge.
Chris led an interesting and enjoyable ride.
