A two-day plus day journey through some of the best single track in the dark divide. Two thirds are single track. The route links adventurous single track with incredible camping at lakes. Don’t be fooled by the mileage. This route is physical both on the up and the down. The pain is worth the reward — some of the best single track descents in Washington. Highlights include the summit of Hamilton buttes, shredding duff and loam in old and second growth forests. Options for extra credits. Riders must ford the Cispus river. If water is high, detour to east along the river to bridge crossing. The final 3k+ leg down the Bishop Ridge Trail tests what can be achieved with a fully loaded bike. Makes for a perfect Friday to Sunday mission from Portland or Seattle. Perfect campsites abound and climbs are rewarded with staggering views of Adam’s, rainier, St. Helen’s and goat rocks wilderness.
