After a week of forecasts that it was to be nice today, it all changed 24 hrs prior and then we were playing the "in what hour will it rain" game. By the time we rolled up to the start it was iffy whether we could finish the 50 miler before the rain started, so we decided to do the new-to-us 30-mile route with an option to do the 20 after that, if it wasn't raining. But it was raining. Got wet between I76 and I81 heading south and that pretty much sealed the deal that it was gonna be a 30-mile day. Back at the start/end venue, had some food and were hanging around and ... it started raining pretty hard. The route out, toward home, was in the opposite direction for one of the longer routes and there were plenty of soggy bikers grinding up the hills in the heavy rain... And the rain was in addition to temps in the 50s, which, after weeks and weeks of 80s and up, was quite an abrupt shock, and not pleasant in the wet. Still, great ride, with great scenery and quiet roads and all the usual reasons we like this ride. No rest stop with supplies, as we were an hour early, but so be it. The coupla miles in rain showers wasn't great, but didn't kill the buzz you get from a good ride. w/Dan
