Day 3 of D and G Tour. Shortened version of original route in aftermath of Storm Agnes and in view of strong headwinds on outward leg with rain due later in day. Roads littered with Agnes's deadwood - some tricky descents through woods to KBT. Headwind was manageable outward. Sadly no views of sunny coves as hoped for at planning stage. All rather grey and stormy with tide in. Promise for a return perhaps. Coo Palace (sic) proved interesting to stop and look at. Lunch in Gatehouse o Fleet almost farcical - just needed Julie Walters! Staff member serving was unable to concentrate on matters in hand for more than 10 seconds. Drinks failed to arrive, cakes needed two reminders. Shambles. Only been open a month - it might not last many more. Gooding steady climb Gatehouse to Laurieston through forest, then long descent - terrific. Back to CD by 3.00 pm in dry weather, a good result. Lots to come back to if we can get the weather booked.
