I decided to go on this ride definetly to Gorey and with a bit of luck to Enniscorthy. But when on the Vale of Avoca I discovered that I could not get into a low enough gear . This held my up a bit . I tried to fix it but could not . It just would not go below about 5th gear and very difficult to go up a hill . The Vale itself was really beautiful but I was under pressure to get to my end with less time . This really took away from it . I got the bike fixede by this bicycle repair man in Arklow which took about 1 minute . He charged nothing which I am very thankful for . There I had a quick brunch and headed off . Went on as far as Gorey and was going to stay there untill after 6 . This was three hours later which would have been v boring . So I decided to go ahead to Ennis , which in retrospect was a bad idea . Under extreme pressure as the train left after 6 and I had to keep going till I reached Ennis , exausted and i really overdid it . Too old for that . Maybe I am not getting too old but I am . I forgot to mention that at the start of the cycle I went partly through Avondale Forest which was lovely . But I was taking a real chance as at first I could not bring my bike on as the two places were booked out bot the inspector or guard let m put it in a cupboard there beside the toilets . I could not open this at the station when I arrived in Rathdrum but he had to do that . DG that I did not have a puncture - if I had , I cant imagine what I would have done . Not too satisfactory a cycle and too far at this time of the year when the evenins are getting much shorter. So maybe next year I might do this cycle again as it is a lovely cycle , and remember to come a small bit earlier , maybe on the earlier train. 3036.40KM since Jan 2023
