His bike. 🤣🤣🤣
We weren’t sure what the roads would be like as there were going to be showers over night. I actually heard the rain coming down as I was going to sleep. Bob got his vaccinations this week and wasn’t feeling great either so we decided to make a ride call close to home.
We decided on Emerald Hills so rather than drive down and start from Bob’s, I said I’d meet them along the way.
I ran into Natalie on the way to meet the guys.
I got to Sand Hill right at the same time as Bob but I didn’t see Sonny. Turns out he drove all the way over to Bob’s and forgot his bike. 🤦🏻♂️
He drove home and got his bike then met us in Woodside. I think he ended up doing a ~25 mi. ride.
Bob and I did a little meandering on the way to kill some time and then after lunch did some more to try and lengthen Sonny’s ride.
Along Cañada we ended up “stuck” behind these two guys that ran the Jefferson stop sign. They were going just a hair too slow but not so much so that it was worth passing them because there was a pretty strong headwind.
Around Filoli, this guy came flying by us and the two guys sped up to try and catch the guy but they didn’t fully commit and ended up in that awkward middle ground.
I knew I could bridge across to the guy easily but then I’d probably be dropping Bob.
As we did the climb by Sheep Camp Trail, I was playing that game - how long can I wait before launching to still catch the guy ahead and beat him to the top? That guy was pretty far ahead but I decided to go for it. Passed him with plenty to spare. I found out later that Sonny had decided to follow along.
I stopped to let Bob catchup and so did the other guys so we were behind them again. We caught them again later just in time for the climb up to the southern addition to Sawyer Camp trail. This time it was Bob that start to sprint so I launched again and went flying passed those guys again.
Super fun but after lunch I was feel today’s and yesterday’s sprints. On the way home, the headwind got stronger while my legs got weaker. 🫠
I got the Steak Fajita Burrito at Sancho’s today. I don’t know if they’ve always had it and I just never saw it or if it’s relatively new but I like it a lot more than what I usually get.
