So this was to be the "long" ride day and off we went. And it was great ... until our tires got shiny because wet. This started about Mile 3 and had us gingerly going over wet rocks and other damp obstacles for a coupla miles. Decided at Mile 5 to take the Corps of Engineers dirt road for about a mile to pick up the Osprey Trail and head down to Hydro and avoid all of scary Rays Revenge in the wet. It was the right call. And all was fine til about Mile 8 when one seatpost rail broke and now am sitting ... all cockeyed. Handled the ride over to the next paved road at 10.7 and decided to ride up that giant hill on the pavement and meet the OGs (who were on a parallel dirt trail) there. Also a good call. Got back to the truck without further incident and still had a good time on the bike even with half-a-seat. Got done in time, too, as it rained after we finished. w/Mark, dan
