I had planned to ride dirt today until my car went into the shop. Last night I wondered what a ride combining my two croissant Strava Art rides together would look like. I almost made it a century but kinda knew I wasn't in the mood to grind out a century by myself.
But last night I both went to bed too late, and unusually for me, took a while to fall asleep. And then I woke up way too early this morning. When it was time to leave, I needed a nap, so I took one.
When I got up, I realized that it worked so by the time I got to Emerald Hills, I could get lunch and I would have just enough time to complete the ride before sunset.
I was hoping to get a croissant from Emerald Hills Cafe & Roastery but they were all out. So I had to settle for cleaning Speederia of their Pig Apple slices - ham and pineapple, baby!!!
Because I started late, it felt like there was more traffic. Somehow though, I was able to make all my turns and u-turns without traffic getting in my way. Amazing!
I have to admit, it was a bit of a grind to do the second croissant. There are some nice neighborhoods but it wasn't that scenic or interesting for most of the ride really.
Seeing all the Halloween decorations reminded me that the very first time I did my first croissant Strava Art ride was also around the same time. I unintentionally rode within a few weeks of the first time.
On Esther Clark Trail, there was a woman walking her two dogs and taking up the whole trail. I yelled to get her attention from quite a ways away but no reaction. I tried my bell too. I figured she was listening to music or something. As I got behind her, I said, "Hey!" again. She freaked out and jumped. She claimed she didn't hear me and that she wasn't even listening to anything but she did have earphone in her ear. I just don't get people that have such an over-the-top reaction.
I guess the highlight was stopping at Satura Cake for some cake and a croissant. They still had them and they were still delicious.
It was nice on the way back, knowing I was nearly done. I started off tired and just got more tired.
Sauce says I burned 8 pizza slices worth of energy but I only ate 3 slices at lunch and then the pastries at Satura. Calorie deficit!
