Perfectly challenging. The day started out in steady rain, with an almost immediate stream crossing where keeping your feet dry was not an option.
There were only a handful of absolutely mandatory hike-a-bikes. Throughout it all, the singletrack was challenging in a fun way, with plenty of "WOOHOOHOO!" chunky descents that my Ascent with 650bx2.25 Mezcals handled with ease.
Elevation gain is, as you can see, pretty evenly spread out.
Of course, the Old County "Road" was really more like a series of boggy ponds. My effort to walk the edge with the bike semi-submerged was almost successful, though a leg went in completely at one point. Others had luck riding right on through, with a few spills, but all with sodden feet.
Water crossings like this were, I think, the most mentally-challenging parts of the ride, since I am inexperienced with what it's like to ride for long stretches in various states of personal dampness, and like a cat, I pathologically avoid it. However, fenders and waterproof socks were not enough. Thankfully, the temps were well into the low 60s and hypothermia was never a serious threat.
Of course, nature of the riding is such that the most interesting or fun parts are more or less impossible to photograph, unless you have very devoted friends with their cameras out at every moment. New, great friends, yes! Social media influencers, no. Just as well :)
