Varsity 50-miler

Hunts Creek trail (3440) to the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail): 12.0 miles; from 3884 ft at Pamelia Lake, on up to Scout Lake at about 5500 ft. Two-hour lunch break at Scout Lake. Through Jefferson Park to Breitenbush – reaching 6800 ft along Park Ridge before descending across the snow fields on the north side of the ridge to Breitenbush at 5500 ft. The climb up Park Ridge was fondly named “Trauma Hill” because it was such a very difficult climb: no switchbacks to speak of and mostly just straight up the ridge. Tough going with very rocky terrain and no tree cover for much of the way.
