It was possibly a daft decision to try to cycle 60 miles having been loaded with cold for 3 days and barking like a husky but I decided to go for it despite an unfavourable forecast.
I left at 9:30 to ride 6 miles to get a breakfast at Burgerking for ease and speed, but after 1 mile it was drizzle, after 2 it was steady rain and after 3 miles it was leeching down. By 4 miles I was under a garage canopy sheltering - wet, cold, shivering and barking all sorts up. My App was telling me it wasn't raining and the radar suggested the rain had passed but obviously there was a tail end. 10 minutes later it was drizzle and I mad a dash to Burgerking .... It was closed and didnt open till 11 am !!
I had cycled past a big supermarket and I went into the cafe and although it wasn't obvious I had enough German to get a hearty Breakfast before setting off praying the rain would stay off ... It did,
As I set ioff I was cold and felling a bit miserable but I soon passed the Rhein Canal and the weather was decent - my gear was drying and the afternoon was as good as i could want. The countryside was not very interseting this time of year so you'll see I've supplemented the pics with some from the match on Tuesday Night !
The body was sore, the legs were weak .. it was a tough 60 miles but I reached my hotel by 4pm and I only have a 45 mile ride tommorrow so I feel there's a good cahnce I may cycle all the way back ... watch this space\.
