Another November day with temps in the 70s before we crash back to normal this weekend... So yes, yes I did go out to Riley's Lock and ride UP THOSE GIANT CLIMBS to Poolesville and return on the towpath. Why go that direction? Allegedly the wind was from the south. Friends, it was not. And the predicted 20% chance of rain became more like 100% starting about Edwards Ferry. However, it was the predicted "light" rain that was more a persistent sprinkle than a full-on rain. Didn't need the rain jacket that was in the CamelBak and never got the least bit uncomfortably cool. Boy is this different than MTB riding around the hood. Been awhile since there was a 2-hr, no stop, 30+ mile ride. Contact points were a little grumbly, mostly because out of practice and the legs were struggling with the constant power output that is pavement/gravel riding. But what a great ride, with nice temps, a few leaves left on the trees and the towpath! My goodness with all the leaves down it's not just a green tunnel any more and you can see the river on one side and across the canal on the other.
