Bob originally wanted to do Mt. Diablo but the weather forecast was unclear. Some were calling for rain while others didn't have any rain in the forecast. Because of the uncertainty, we chose to stay closer to home. In the end the ones forecasting some rain were correct.
Bob then suggested going down to Morgan Hill for lunch and hitting one of my bakery suggestions along the way. Croissante ended up making the most sense for the route.
Croissante's claim to fame is there Cube Croissant. Like all their pastries, they look amazing but they just taste good. I wouldn't rate their pastries as excellent. The Cube Croissant, for example, isn't quite crispy enough on the outside. The inside is moist but not quite buttery enough either. It's good but could be so much better. It's just a little plain. I think a filling is needed to elevate it. Either that or just make it better.
I also got a Triple Chocolate Pain au Chocolat, which like all the pastries, looked and sounded better than it actually ended up being. It was, again, good but nothing special.
So last weekend we were dodging the Christmas tree shopper traffic and we wanted to avoid doing that again. Only this week we ended up dodging actual traffic through San Jose.
San Jose is in a real bad need of a glow up.
This was my first time doing Coyote Creek Trail starting from the north and, I got to say, after doing it in the opposite direction on all the most recent trips, this way is not the right way to go. Heading south it's slightly uphill the whole way to Morgan Hill. I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't so used to the way it feels going in the opposite direction.
By the time we got to lunch, we realized it was kind of late and most of the climbing was actually on the back end of the ride. We didn't think we get back before sunset so we took the most direct and flattest way back and got back just before sunset.
Along the way back there were some sprinkles and one section that was enough of a sustained light sprinkle that I decided to put the rain jacket on.
