So the main reason I did this ride was to get something in before a big front comes in with rain both Saturday And Sunday.
Interesting encounter on Tri County road. A white dually F350 followed me down the hill east of Lynch-Pine Hill road and ultimately passed me a bit too close at around 30mph(which is way too fast on this gravel road), even though I was all the way on the edge of the loose gravel right next to where it turns to loose leaves and gravel and dirt. And a cloud of dust followed. Since I have grown so much with regards to my reactions to such things, I pulled over to let the dust clear rather than breathe it in. The truck kept going straight and ultimately stopped at the stop sign at Midville road, extremely unusual since it's another gravel road with almost zero cross traffic. It was still stopped there when I rolled up. I am an atheist but I definitely now try to heed the advice of Jesus in situations like this and turn the other cheek especially when someone is wielding a 3 ton weapon at me. He was trying to get a rise out of me like a 13 year old troll on the internet. Had the driver's side window half down and everything. I was mentally stronger though, and simply rolled around him on the left(after stopping behind for a bit hoping he would move), checked traffic and rolled away. After a bit he did as well. So I decided to try and out sprint him to Hickory Hill road(my turn to the south). Ultimately I must have diffused the situation as he didn't go very fast and in any case his destination was a driveway before the creek. I was shook up a bit after this but tried to enjoy the ride and my podcasts and not long after the memory faded and I was fine again. I am definitely proud of how I can now manage myself in such situations. Younger me would have let reptile brain rule. Regardless, Friday night is such a shitty time to ride. Rest of the ride was fine, with a bit more traffic than I would have liked but really not bad at all(I picked a good route for this time). Felt pretty tired the last two hours or so, probably due to the effort early in ride as I rode pretty hard for awhile plus the sprinting and such, plus working all day beforehand of course. Had plenty of food and water but ultimately didn't feel super great so I rode easy in the short way once I got back to town.
