Dropped off at lake brockman campsite at around 3:30pm
It was a longer drive than I remember, but I may have been unconscious for some of the pick up.
It's quite busy (school holidays).
Set up camp. It's a bit too early for dinner (I brought burgers, cheese, & onion). So maybe some book, & listen to the bad music pumping from some bogan ute a couple of sites away.
6:45 and we've reached new heights in boganism with "walking in Memphis" blasting from someone's 4x4
I didn't get a good night's sleep.
The group of women near by stopped yelling at each other by midnight, but another bunch of people had music going till around 4am
The thermal "extreme" (rolls eyes) liner was pretty good. & was so warm, at one point I had to get out of the sleeping bag.
I set off some time before 9:00
Fuelled by 2 espressos.
With the exception of a few short gravel road sections, the route was all shady Forrest.
Only a couple of really steep bits , & just one pea gravel climb close to the end (which induced mild swearing).
Compared to the previous sections, that was pure pleasure!
Not much in the way of wildlife. Lots of black cockatoos, some blue wrens, an a really chilled out bobtail.
Apart from a glimpse of a ute passing between a gap in some trees, I didn't see another sole.
I arrived at Yarri camp around 2pm
A really nice spot, literally ON the trail (you need to dodge the water tanks).
I was still setting up when a guy on the fattest of fat bikes (think 'Monster Jam' in bike form) came from the other direction.
We had a good chat. He's doing much the same as me, sections of the trail, when he can get time off.
He stayed for something to eat, & pushed on for lake brockman.
The water here is really dark looking, doesn't taste that good.
Perhaps it was flavoured with the spider the came out of the tap when I turned it on.
Just had another coffee, & I'll take a look in the camp log.
About 5:30 Leslie turned up on a Vivienne touring bike with front & rear panniers.
It looked heavy as he pulled it back on its centre stand.
He did mundaring to dwellingup 10 years ago (but doesn't remember it being as hard as everyone says it is).
It starts getting dark after 6:00 so I lay back in the tent to read some more book, & hope I get a better night's sleep.
