Flats are not a thing in the Canary Islands, so when we want to put some easy hours into our legs, this is the closest we get as a flat. Starting from Maspalomas we go all the way to the west until the GC-500 ends. Then we go back and take the "Cercado de Espino" valley until Soria climb starts, we go back from here to our starting point with 80kms and "only" 950m of climbing. This road has amazing views of our south seaside, you will probably see Tenerife and his Teide volcano as you get close to "Taurito". You will also cross some of our best (and most crowded) beaches like Amadores, Anfi and Puerto Rico. Be aware that the GC-500 is a main road and has a good amount of traffic and no too much shoulder. Good news is that locals, buses and even tourists are used to deal with lots bikes arounds here, and they give space and the average speed is slow in this road. The valley is a smooth false flat where you will probably see some pros training for long distance triathlons in their aerobikes. Dont forget to wave! Roads are in pretty good condition here and because we are close to the coast, plenty of places for a coffee stop. The little shop in the middle of the valley is the local favourite for a quick stop. Local tip: You can swap and do the valley first and then go to taurito and back, but we recomend keep the valley to the end because this way we clear the GC-500 early in the morning and enjoy it better with less traffic.
