Ride 03/01/2023 Otley Stump Cross and Ilkley Circular

A hilly debut ride in 2024 - a reprise of the opening leg of Coronation Ride in May '23, but without the summer bike and clothing. Got up Hall Lane climb OK but wheels fell off on climb from Thruscross to Stonehouse Inn. A shot bolt on Hall Lane, I think. Slog up to Greenhow was as expected but it has been much worse in past - just gentle sidewinds and no quarry lorries today. Forecast drizzle/mist duly materialised from Greenhow to Stump Cross and beyond. Stump Cross cafe open and very warmly welcome. Barden Tower to Devonshire Arms section has been resurfaced - what a joy compared with the rough rides of past. Last leg - Bolton Abbey to Ilkley and Otley marked by some ponds, large and small, but nothing that required a lift in a 4x4 today. Grand day out with very decent weather, with some blue skies near Bolton Abbey and full (if very low) sun on return to Otley.

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
