MTB recommended, trekking bike with suspension if the rider is a masochist. The ascent is not too difficult and anybody who is a regular rider can take this ride. Descent begins between 12th and 14th km. Detour to Sveti Nikola peak (km 13+) is recommended. The road is paved until Gornja Lastva graveyard and again from fort Vrmac. The climate changes completely: once yo get above 500 meters above the sea level, the vegetation is more continental than mediterranean, with oaks, beeches, meadow grass, even fern. Animals that are easy to see include turtles and goats. It's likely that there are snakes in abundance, so watch your step. There is one water source - a reservoir near Gornja Lastva. The ride is best for the afternoon, so that the sun stays behind you.
