Today was a big day and it started slow. I got up around 7:30am, with the thought of getting out the door by around 9am. After eating breakfast, Oatmeal, an apple, and Health Bar, I felt cramps in my stomach. I took some Milk of Magnisia to calm it down. I took an hour nap to see if it would get better and be able to ride. Fortunately it got better. The next decision was, whether or not to do the double. I prepped for the double. In the event that my stomach wouldn't cooperate, I was going to opt out after Keene n Back. I took 4 large bottles all together. 2 on board and 2 in the mailbox. After the first 10-20 minutes I started to assess my ailments. They consisted mainly of pain in my right leg, a few inches below the knee on the outside. It felt like a sore vein. That persisted for about 1/2 of the ride. The unusual thing is that, when I was pushing the pace a bit, the pain went away. It only persisted when I was doing slow tempo. I had tingling in my right hand now and again. but the ol' wiggling trick fixed that. My right knee cap was hurting at one point, but wasn't persistent through out the ride. I think my left hip was a hint sore at one point, but so minute, I don't remember when it was like that in the ride. I did good tempo up Keene, probably a little faster than I anticipated. The heat wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was a factor in today's ride. After coming back from Keene, I stopped at the summit and ate a power bar and took on as much fluids as I could drink. I pretty much finished the 2 bottles at that point. I did the bottle switch from the mailbox, reset the gopro and such. At that point, felt good and decided to complete the ride as planned. I proceeded on the usual route as per the Tour de Teh Ride. As I was sufficiently warmed up, I just did modest tempo through Old Town Road, up the Banducci wall and to the Summit. The wind was from the North, so at this point I was going into a headwind. No surprise there. There was quite a bit of traffic today, so I was constantly looking over my shoulder. No close calls, I think my tail-light is doing its job well! I gave a modest dig over the summit of SS. And did good tempo through the town. The last hour was mostly modest to good tempo. The last climb was modest. The winds were turbulent through the entire ultimate climb, so I decided to ease up and cruise to the summit. Once I got over the summit, I was able to lift the pace back up and kept it there for pretty much the remainder of the ride. My concentration was good today, with only a few lapses. I worked a bit on my Balance and that's coming together nicely. My gear is working perfectly. No flaws there. Once gear note to make, is that once in a blue moon, I feel something in the chain that I can only describe as a stiff link. I'm not sure what to make of it. Maybe it's a pebble that wedged itself, or a plant that got stuck. It didn't cause a mis-shift, but I did feel something crunchy. Other notes, the ol' mule was in the fields today, I wanted to feed him, but he refused to approach me. Perhaps next time... (I'll keep the carrots till then). There were tons of ducks and some chickens at the mini-farm. I saw no other cyclists today, what a bummer :(.
