Wow! what a great day it was to ride. The weather could not have been better. There was overcast and a hint of sprinkles here and there. There was absolutely no wind! When I got out, my legs were a little heavy, but around 15 minutes into the ride, my legs started to come around. I noticed I was doing good time when I was going up the Banducci wall. When I reached the summit, I crushed my usual time. I knew then, that I was going to have a potential Personal Best. I got to SS in around 50 minutes and to the exit in about 1 hour. Again, crushing my usual time. It was interesting though, because I wasn't able to lift the speed much above 25 while going on the return trip. But, I was able to hold fairly high tempo as there was no wind to hold me back. I pretty much blitzed the whole ride! I made it to Boss Hogs Well under 1:20, probably around 1:05 or so. The last climb wasn't as fast as I usually do it, because of the lack of wind. But I was still able to hold pretty high tempo. For the last half of the ride, by back was a little sore at times, and I had to stretch out fairly often. My concentration was right on. As soon as I noticed I was doing real good time, my mind went straight into tunnel vision, with only one thing in mind. I worked more on my balance, still trying to get it back. My gear is working great, absolutely no problems. I had enough provisions to last the whole ride, and I didn't need my bailout bar. Although, I ate a Nutrigrain bar just before the ride. I also had 1 glass of Gatorade, and 1 glass of water. I probably should have ate something like a bagel. Fortunately, there was no signs of bonking what so ever. Other notes, I fed the mule on OTR, probably stopped for about 2 minutes. I may have done better time, had I not stopped. But I was determined to give him a little treat, as I missed him the last time I was out there. I also saw 2 red tail hawks on the last part of OTR.
