Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.

I headed out in the early afternoon - approaching the hottest time of day. It was about 94 degrees. The forecast called for 18 mph winds so I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad. I had received a "golden handshake" at work (i.e., I was given the second half of Friday off since it is a three day weekend) and I had to make good use of it.
I was going to ride the route Daunell used to ride up to Catalina Hwy and back, but I had a little voice in the back of my head saying, if you feel good when you get to Catalina, then you can extend by going through 49ers. That voice became stronger once I started back from Catalina, so I headed for 49ers. That is always a relaxing ride.
At 11 miles, the distance I would have been home and which I was now a quarter way into 49ers, I bonked. That is, I ran out of energy. You need to be real careful when you are on a low calorie diet. I burned 1449 calories. I am on a 1700 calorie diet. Hmm.
I took it real easy the rest of the ride because I did not have it in me to do anything more. I struggled to even have the energy to get home. Also, I had take three 24 oz water bottles and they were starting to get low. I had enough water to get me home - barely. I would have liked to have had maybe another 12 oz.
I had a peanut butter and jam sandwich when I got home and that seemed to be what I needed.
I enjoyed this ride. I am not yet in very good shape, and the trike is heavier than my bike, but it is stable and I don't have to worry about staying upright (except when turning corners quickly).
About the last 3 miles I was riding into an 18 mph wind.
